Oct DTA Meeting
Tues 1st Oct // 18:00-19:30 // Home Community Cafe, Emmanuel Church, 6 Barlow Moor Rd, M20 6TR
Here you'll find discussion points for the next Didsbury Traders Association meeting, taking place on Tues 1st Oct.
Our guests will be Lecturers and students from Manchester School of Architecture who will be undertaking a project on Didsbury as part of ‘Future Didsbury’ initiated and led by Phil, one of our members.
Students involved in the project will be discussing / asking our views on how Didsbury’s High Street, it’s buildings, architecture, roads and traffic flows shape trade. The students will be designing an urban master plan and a series of building design proposals that will respond to the issues of access, movement and space, that they learn from engaging with the traders in Didsbury (and also residents in different forums)
They will be giving some detail about the design process, and how the information and knowledge learnt through meetings will inform the development of design concepts and briefs the students develop. The output of the project will be a series of architecture design proposals for Didsbury’s High Street, which look at renewing existing buildings and road infrastructure in a way that can contribute to ongoing discussions about a Future Didsbury.
At the end of the 10 week project the students would like to invite everyone involved to view and comment on the design proposals which will be presented by the students at the Manchester School of Architecture.
We are excited to be part of this project, extremely grateful for their involvement and looking forward to hearing all about it.
